Focus

For quite sometime now I have had trouble focusing both my time and energy on things I want to achieve and accomplish. I am not quite sure why this is, only that it is.

I have tried to do lists, putting EVERYTHING on my calendar, both digitally and on paper. No matter the case or context…I get distracted.

No amount of books or blogs have helped, and maybe that is the problem.

I think I am “Information-ally Fatigued”.

With work, church, friends, family, podcasts, audiobooks, real books, iBooks, hulu, netflix….well you can see where I might be onto something. This isn’t even including social media. Egads!

I need a fast from most of this.

Focus means turning your attention to one task or thing for a period of time, at least my definition of it is. So my goal will be to set up predetermined times to focus on a particular thing or person in the case of family/friends.

My schedule will probably end up looking like this:

4:30 am – exercise (walk dog/insanity workout)
5:45 am – devotional (S.O.A.P)
6:00 am – usertesting.com (extra money plus I can get 3 tests in early in the morning)
7:00 am – prep (shower, getting dressed, breakfast, schedule work day)
8:00 am – work day starts (focus only on work during this time)
12:00 pm LUNCH
1:00 pm – work focus
4:00 pm – wind things down
5:00 pm – family time/dinner
6:00 pm – extra activities (softball/church/part time job)
9:00 pm – kids to bed
9:15 pm – personal catch up (pay bills, scheduling, answer personal emails, Facebook, Twitter)
9:45 pm – wife time (talk, listen, whatever)
10:15 till sleep – reading (articles/book/audiobook/podcasts)

A lot of this will blend together and even get totally thrown off. Again, this is what my day could look like, not what it must look like.

Yes, 4:30 am is early…the early bird gets rich…so deal.

Hopefully this helps me focus. I will let you know.
