This is for sales/management business types, not creatives ;) You should make a 10 essentials for creatives to get ahead in business. I'll link it up.

decent advice, however, I'll stick with my raw denim, chucks, Forte Tee, Hoody, and beanie and/or New Era cap for the foreseeable future. My watch? Nike Plus iPod watch. No fountain pens for me, too messy. I have Kindle for iPad so that has to account for something. I don't have a barber, I have a stylist, we trade out design for hair.

So... I'm beginning to think this advice may or may not be for me... Hmmm...

I am almost at the point of getting rid of facebook entirely because it gives me a false sense of knowing someone.

I tend to assume because someone commented on my facebook page...or vice versa that I have done my part in connecting with them that day. A false intimacy if you will follow my logic.

It almost lets me cop out of actually meeting with people and caring about them by letting me contact them and make them feel important virtually. Does that make sense?

The new technology basically lets me be anti-social without pissing people off.

I tend to partition my life for this very reason. I don't depend on Social Media outlets to broadcast myself. I use it as a tool to keep in touch with friends and family. Even then, I find myself wishing I had a friend list of 30-40 dedicated friends (honestly, how do I have more friends on FB than I do in real life, right?). I love the idea of using my blog as an outlet to broadcast my voice as opposed to shoving it down a viewers throat to an already distracted audience on Facebook or the readers digest of readers digest guide to the internet on Twitter (honestly, how uncommitted are your followers on Twitter?, They'll listen to everything you have to say so long as you keep it under 150 characters!)...

I've found that when you partition your life, the value of those subscribing to your feed are sincerely interested in what you have to say, not appeasing your burning desire for conversions on your webpage. (Now only if the flipping malware can get taken off my freakin site!)... But it also frees you to continually shed the impersonal acquaintances you have on FB, so you can feel free to use FB as a stage to share momentary glimpses of your thought life without regret. As for Twitter, it's so impersonal already that a mature man wouldn't use it as a personal outlet but rather a global outlet to share whatever you need to share externally, not internally.

Just my thoughts.
