If you’re a Christian and you’re at all serious, odds are that you have The Shelf. You know which one I’m talking about. You’ve got a dozen Bibles, representing about nine different translations. You have reference materials coming out your ears. You might even have multiple exhaustive concordances, and a stack of Bible commentaries. Sometimes The Shelf is just one shelf. Sometimes The Shelf is an entire bookcase. In extreme cases, The Shelf might be an entire wall. You’ve got all the information you need to do research, right at your fingertips. In fact, the more that’s on The Shelf, the more proud you probably are of it. Here’s a question to shift your perspective a bit though: How often do you read any of it?
